When your goal is
the top of the world
Shishapangma is one of the most challenging 8,000-metre peaks in the world. Any ascent of this forbidding mountain requires a healthy dose of respect for the demands it puts on your body. For Hervé Barmasse and David Göettler, that respect is most clearly demonstrated by how they train.
Their routine combines agility-focused climbing days in the rock gym, with brutal outdoor endurance builders like crampon piste climbing (with weighted backpacks) and high-altitude running (up a ski jump).
The goal: a chance to pay their respects to Shishapangma in person.
